Sharlene Khanis a South African visual artist and creative researcher whose artworks and publications interrogate living in a post-apartheid society. Her artworks have appeared in the Thessaloniki and the Casablanca Biennale; she has published three books on her artwork and written for local and international publications. She has been a recipient of the Rockefeller Bellagio Visual Arts residency (2009), the NIHSS Award for Visual Arts (2018) and the Video kunst Preis Bremen Award (2015).She is co-convenor of the African Feminisms (Afems)Conference and the Art on our Mind Project. She is Associate Professor at Wits Department of Fine Arts.
